Meal Kit Squad
The Meal Kit Squad began in the most Auburn way possible — organically.
It started with Zumba Gold. A group of neighbors gathering to move, laugh, and building friendships. Over time, participants began bringing in non-perishable food items simply because they wanted to help. No requirement. Just generosity.
As those donations grew, so did the idea: what if we could turn individual food items into complete, ready-to-use meal kits?
Today, the Meal Kit Squad assembles “meal-in-a-bag” kits that include everything a family needs to prepare a full dinner. Each kit is thoughtfully packed to be simple, practical, and easy to distribute — offering support with dignity and care.
We provide one downloadable document that includes shopping lists for 9 different meals, making it easy to choose an option that fits your budget and availability. Getting involved is simple — download the list, select a meal, purchase the ingredients, place them in a large Ziploc bag or plastic shopping bag, and drop the kit off at the Parks Office. From there, we take care of the finishing touches by adding printed cooking instructions and preparing the kit for distribution.
What began as a fitness class has grown into a community effort built on connection and action — neighbors helping neighbors in a tangible way.

This sweet fundraiser helps support the many free opportunities we offer in
our parks.
In 2025 alone, Auburn Parks hosted 194 free programs
for our community—and efforts like this help keep those experiences growing.
